Big meeting

The next meeting of the Lakeside Association of Fraccionamientos and Condos (LAFC) will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 10, 10 a.m. at the Chapala Country Club in Vista del Lago.

At the last meeting Rick Feldman gave an excellent presentation on the use of cameras for neighborhood security.  On May 10, a demonstration will be given about very affordable cameras for home use. Representatives from the Mirasol neighborhood will present a short synopsis of the hidden costs they encountered in the installation of cameras there.

Alberto Costales of the Community Safety Initiative (CSI Chapala) will give an update on that organization’s accomplishments to date and their plans for the future. This will be a good time to separate the facts from the rumors as to local security.

All of the presenters will be available after the meeting to answer questions. This meeting is not restricted to members of LAFC.

Niños Incapacitados

Programa Pro Niños Incapacitados del Lago holds their final meeting of the season on Thursday, May 10 at the Hotel Real de Chapala in La Floresta.  Coffee is on at 10 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10:30 a.m.

This will be the last meeting of Niños Incapacitados until September. Everyone is welcome.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

Evangelism is not something that Anglicans do very well, or with much comfort. That is why a very strange story from Acts of the Apostles is the focus of this Sunday’s (May 6) sermon at St. Andrew’s.

“The Unlikely Hitchhiker” refers to an early Christian believer named Philip. Philip became the Church’s first evangelist and brings the most unlikely of converts to the faith, thereby establishing a pattern for genuine evangelism that can be followed even today. Of course, for Anglicans the beauty of worship is also an aspect of evangelism that members of St. Andrew’s look forward to with each Sunday morning Eucharist at 10 a.m. All are welcome to enjoy the service and the fellowship time in St. Andrew’s garden afterwards. St. Andrew’s is located at Calle San Lucas 19, just one block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Christ Church Anglican

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship will celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Easter on May 6, 10 a.m. with Holy Eucharist Rite II in the ground floor area of Manix Restaurant. The sermon topic by Father Danny Borkowski is “How to Get what You Want,” based on John 15:1-8.

Unitarians

The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (LCUUF) meets each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Sta. Margarita 113 in Riberas del Pilar. Sunday, May 6, the presentation topic will be “We are the 99 Percent: Why Egalitarian Societies Fail and Why This Time Might Be Different.” A cry for justice and an innate sense of fairness is being discovered by societies all across the world – and so the world is shrinking.

This talk will be given by Cate Howell and Frank Howell will be the service leader. A coffee hour get-together will follow. For more information please call 766-1119 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
