Navy League

The next meeting of the Navy League Chapala Council will be on Saturday, June 16 at Manix Restaurant, Ocampo 57 in Ajijic.

The luncheon meeting begins at 1 p.m. There will be administrative remarks of interest to the Navy League before the meal and a program of interest following lunch.

The speaker on June 16 will be Dr. Ian Fischman Zuckerman, who will talk about his new medical clinic in Ajijic named Medijic Clinic.

Fischman graduated from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in 2005 and did his internship at Hospital General de Zapopan. His primary role with the new clinic is a consulting one, helping the business and management development.

Unique to Medijic Clinic is the medical insurance that they will accept from both U.S. and Canadian companies. Of particular interest to military personnel is the fact that they take Tricare insurance, VA Foreign Medical Program and others.

Accompanying Dr. Fischman will be Dr. Dickson, M.D., the clinic’s medical director, who handles and coordinates patient care and consultation with specialists. Dickson is the primary care general practice physician.

To join the Navy League, one doesn’t need prior military service. The Council is open to all, regardless of nationality.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

Since moving to Lakeside several years ago from Guadalajara, Lutheran Pastor Hal Brown and his wife Eddie have been valued members of St. Andrew’s Church. Living up to the honorific of “Pastor,” Hal and Eddie have exercised a particular ministry to sick and shut-in members of both the congregation and the community in general. This Sunday, Pastor Hal will observe the 50th anniversary of his ordination and will preach at the 10 a.m. service. The title of his sermon is “Where Everybody is Somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord.” The St. Andrew’s congregation is inviting the Browns’ many friends in the Lakeside community to join them in giving thanks for their outstanding ministry.

St. Andrew’s is located at Calle San Lucas 19, just a block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Presbyterians

June 10 is the second Sunday in June and that means that Lakeside Presbyterian Church is inviting you to a free – yes, free – lunch after the 10 a.m. service.

Pastor Ross Arnold will continue his series on “The Road to Christian Maturity” with the theme “Serving God.” The regular interactive Bible Study held every Friday at 10 a.m. is open to all.

The Church is located on the mountain side of the Carretera just west of S&S Auto and Bubba’s Restaurant.
