Coincidence?

You’ll be hard pressed to convince the 45 people who participated in the Rain Dance for the Tarahumara on July 22. Libby Townsend, who sponsored the event to send rain to the drought-stricken area on the northern rim of the Copper Canyon, received word on July 23, that a rain storm big enough to fill the arroyos and the streets arrived in the late afternoon of July 22. Send lots of good mojo their way to keep the rain coming! Townsend wants to thank all of those who attended and participated in the event.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

When you think about the story of Jesus feeding the multitude, who is the one character that springs to mind? For most people it’s probably the boy who that day offered his lunch of five barley loaves and two fish. He only appears in one telling of the story, but makes an indelible impression. This week’s sermon at St. Andrew’s asks, “What’s That Kid Doing Here?” and chances are you’ll be surprised at the answer.

Worship at St. Andrew’s begins at 10 a.m. and is always followed by a time of refreshment, welcome and fellowship. The church is located at Calle San Lucas 19, a block south of the carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Christ Church Anglican

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship will celebrate The Ninth Sunday after Pentacost on July 29 at 10 a.m. in the ground floor space at Manix Restaurant. As it is the fifth Sunday of the month, the service will be Morning Prayer, Rite I. The sermon topic for diaconal candidate Rob Wells is “The Five Loaves and the Two Fishes,” based on John 6:1-21. Wells will preach the same sermon at The Little Chapel by the Lake at the 11 a.m. service there.

Presbyterians

Do the Ten Commandments seem negative, old fashioned and restrictive to you? Pastor Ross Arnold at Lakeside Presbyterian Church will continue his series focusing on why the Ten Commandments are truly the Grand Positives at the service on July 29, beginning at 10 a.m. The topic this week will be “Down Time.” Lakeside Presbyterian Church is located on the mountain side of the carretera, just west of S&S Auto.
