The Lakeside Tea Party is sponsoring the screening of the documentary “2016: Obama’s America” on Tuesday, October 9, 4-5:30 p.m. at Hotel Real de Chapala in La Floresta, Ajijic.

According to Rottentomatoes.com, the film “takes audiences on a gripping visual journey into the heart of the world’s most powerful office to reveal the struggle of whether one man’s past will redefine America over the next four years. The film examines the question, ‘If Obama wins a second term, where will we be in 2016?’”  The above-mentioned website gave the film a 4.4 out of ten rating based on 29 reviews, but 77 percent of the site’s audience said they “liked it.”

Since those of all political persuasions are invited, a ballot will be passed out before the screening asking those attending the event who they believe will win the election (not necessarily who they will vote for). This will hopefully provide some interesting dialogue.

Entry to the event is 50 pesos per person at the door. The money will just cover the cost of the event and not go to the Tea Party, so Democrats, Republicans and Independents can feel comfortable about viewing this powerful film as to what makes President Obama tick.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

“Dealing with Divorce” – the subject of Jesus’ word to His followers this week – may have wider meaning and application than first meets the eye. It turns out that grace lurks behind what appears to be judgment. It also turns out that Jesus is talking to all people, not just married or divorced people, and is addressing us in uncomfortable but life-expanding ways. Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. and always includes a time of fellowship and refreshment after the service. The Church is located on Calle San Lucas 19, just a block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Christ Church Anglican

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship will celebrate the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost on October 7 with Holy Communion, Rite II at The Little Chapel by the Lake at 9:30 a.m. The preacher will be diaconal candidate Rob Wells. The topic of his sermon is “Not for Angels,” based on Mark 10:2-16. There will be a joint fellowship time for Christ Church and the congregation of The Little Chapel by the Lake at 10:30 a.m.; with that congregation’s service beginning at 11:15 a.m. Wells will repeat his sermon at that time. Join in and find out what is not for angles and stay for the fellowship time. There will be a pot-luck meal with an “Italian” theme after the Little Chapel service. Join in for any or all of these events.

Service in Mazamitla

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship of Ajijic will carry services to a small group of parishioners at La Familia Sagrada (Holy Family) Anglican Church in Mazamitla for a third time on Sunday, October 14. The request for leadership from Christ Church comes at a time when the Mazamitla congregation is without a priest.

Those who wish to travel to Mazamitla from Lakeside will meet at Farmacia Guadalajara and depart promptly at 9 a.m. on October 14, with a dish to share for the potluck lunch that will follow the service.

Everyone is welcome to join in this “Church-in-a-Box” experience. Just share your intentions to participate with Kay Borkowski at 766-2495 by Thursday, October 11 so that Christ Church can arrange enough transportation.
