Bus trips

The bus leaves from the La Floresta sculpture at 9 a.m. and returns from Tlaquepaque about 4 p.m. The price is 200 pesos. Sign up today at the LCS table, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For the Tarahumara

Libby Townsend holds her annual giant garage (driveway) sale on Saturday, October 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ocampo 98 at Seis Esquinas (Six Corners) in Ajijic. You’re bound to find exactly what you’re looking for or certainly see something that you may not have known before that you wanted. The sale features electronic items, carpets, furnishings, clothing from small to very large and for men and women, kid’s stuff, jewelry, CDs, books, greeting cards – you name it.

The proceeds from this sale go toward the support of the Santa Teresita free hospital in Creel, Chihuahua, on the northern rim of the Copper Canyon. The tiny hospital treats about seven thousand patients each year, the majority of them small indigenous Tarahumara children who suffer from malnutrition, pneumonia, gastro-intestinal infections and tuberculosis. Last year, proceeds from Townsend’s sale went to the hospital feeding program for children in danger of starvation. She purchased enough sugar, oatmeal and other products to feed 500 kids for several weeks.

Do show up at this event. You’ll find all kinds of interesting stuff, meet old and new friends and help some of the weakest and most deserving among us. If you wish to donate items for the sale, or warm clothing to be carried to the mission, call Townsend at 766-1167.
