Weekly Worship - July 8, 2017

Little Chapel by the Lake

Pastor Ken Armstrong asks, “Did you know that Christians actually are called to judge? That may shock a few people.

And yet, one of the biggest problems of the Christian faith is the idea of, ‘Grace for me, law for you.’” Pastor Ken will explain himself in a message on Sunday, July 9, entitled, “That Thing About Judging,” drawn from Matthew 7 and Romans 9.

Non-denominational, English-language Sunday worship service is at 11 a.m.

Everyone is invited to stay for a friendly comida (church meal) after the service.

Little Chapel is also open Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. for silent prayer and worship in the sanctuary and memorial prayer garden. Everyone is welcome.

For more information, see the display ad in this section.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Says Brother Bob Hendrick, “The idea of asymmetrical weight lifting is to use unequal dumbbells for lifts. This more closely replicates real-life use of muscles. To maintain balance, your core has to make adjustments that exercise some muscles that you might otherwise overlook. Thus, you develop usable strength. Functional Christianity is not symmetrical. Jesus said to take up your cross and follow Him. That does not amount to doing the same religious things in the same way over and over. It means developing real strength in your core relationship with Jesus by taking on the odd-shaped tasks of real life in His strength.”

Sunday, July 9, 11 a.m., Brother Hendrick will give the sermon at the worship service of the Lake Chapala Baptist Church, located at Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar.

Christ Church Episcopal

Refreshments will be available before the service, starting at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

The Lunch Bunch will meet 11:15 a.m. at La Nueva Posada.

Bible study will meet Tuesday, July 11 and continue to explore Paul’s letters in chronological order at the Fellowship Hall, July 11, 2 p.m.

Christ Church reminds its members to park on the Ajijic side of the paved and grassy parking area.

This Sunday at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church the congregation will hear the familiar call of Jesus to “come to him, all who are heavily burdened, and He will give us rest. We are to learn from him because He is gentle and humble in spirit and we will find rest for our souls. For His yoke is easy and his burden is light.”  Fr. Bryan Beveridge will help us focus on “how we might identify the burdens that we carry daily and how we might give them up to Jesus, the healer of our souls.”

Worship begins at 10 a.m., the bilingual children’s Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. and a coffee hour – a time of fellowship and welcome – follows the service.

Every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable food items. Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome, in addition to lentils, beans, pasta, oil, and salt.

Home Church Int’l

It is amazing to discover the many other things the Holy Spirit does through true believers. God’s heart is for the fullness, wholeness, and victory of His children, those born-again believers. God, being King of kings and Lord of lords, is committed to His own sovereignty in providing all He plans and desires. This is why we say that being saved, heaven-bound, is not the end product. It could be considered the beginning of the meaning of this eternal life in God our Heavenly Father. If we truly want what He wants, we avail ourselves to Him. This is verified in Jesus’ statements that we are salt and light, and the light of the world.

This prompts us on our journey in Him, but also reveals there is much more to be accomplished in and through God’s Holy Spirit. One of the predominant assignments of the Spirit is that of revealing God’s Word and desire. Mere mental pursuit will not discern the spiritual intent.

In the second chapter of the New Testament, Apostle Paul laid hands on some new believers who experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. The experiences are what is known as the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Pastors Paul and Susana Allen affirm this is a New Testament blessing available to all born-again believers. To learn of meeting times and places, contact them at (332) 242-8648, or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
