Jaltepec open house

pg13a

The Jaltepec hostelry and hospitality university, located in Jocotepec, is holding a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 2 p.m., to present students in action, as well as the institution’s 2021 scholarship drive for their neediest students

Jaltepec is a program geared to young women from around Mexico, and has many students from Lakeside communities.

The first half hour of the 50-minute presentation focuses on “The Magic,” the virtual education model that has allowed Jaltepec to maintain a high level of academic standards during the last year. The program has proved so successful that the institute is filled to capacity and they have had to turn away six applicants.

The rest of the program will explain how you can become a scholarship sponsor of a student. It includes biographies of new students in need of scholarships, and will be followed by a question and answer period.

Jaltepec has been authorized by the Jalisco Education Department to reopen its campus as of February 1. By March 1, 25 girls will be living on campus, which will allow them to perform work in the kitchen and laundry, with commercial equipment that is not available to them at home.
