Do you have a story to tell? Be part of a new theater experience.
Auditions are held Mondays and Fridays, noon, in February, March and April. The first performance is planned for the end of April, pending health permissions. Auditions will be held in a beautiful fresh air studio in Chula Vista Norte (near the new hospital), with distancing respected.
Come prepared with a five-to seven-minute true story based on a real event or adventure in your own life. No script. No written notes. Tell the story as you experienced it.

LLT postponement … again
The governor of Jalisco has extended the state’s lockdown restrictions until February 12, at which time he will also announce a comprehensive plan for the future (see story page one).
As a result, Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) is once more postponing the upcoming Ajijic Readers Theatre production of “It’s My Party,” tentatively scheduled for February 12, 13 and 14.
Because of the current uncertainty, the theatre is not yet in a position to announce a new date. Everyone who purchased a ticket has been advised and arrangements are being made for them.
LLT promises to send an email announcement about the new date, when the box office is open again and online ticket sales are available.
LLT thanks its patrons for their patience and understanding.
LCS concerts
The benefit concerts by Branden and James, “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road,” have been rescheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Garden. Purchasers of tickets for the original performance date have four options: they may use their tickets to attend the same performance on February 14, exchange their tickets for the Spencer Day & Effie Passero show on February 28, obtain a credit for the purchase price that can be applied to any other LCS activity, or obtain a complete refund.
Tickets will be limited to 100 seats for each performance, advanced purchase only. No tickets sold at the gate. VIP tickets (50 seats, features prime location with table) are 500 pesos and general admission tickets (50 arranged in rows) are 350 pesos.
Wine trip
Casa del Sol Inn is sponsoring a three-day trip to Aguascalientes and Zacatecas for eight guests to visit four wineries.
The highlights of the trip are meetings with the winemakers and owners of the three Aguascalientes limited-production wineries, and a dinner at the last winery on the tour.
Also on tap are visits to artisanal cheese and olive oil producers, and a meeting with a famous bullfighter at his private bullring.
In Zacatecas, the stay will be at a hotel built on the site of a historic bullring, and include a visit to a silver mine, an ancient aqueduct and a tour and wine tasting at a Zacatecas winery.
The dates are February 17 to 19. Transportation is in a 15-seater van, to enable social distancing en route.

Book presentation
A presentation of the book by the late artist Georg Rauch, “El Judio con La Cruz de Hierro” (“The Jew with The Iron Cross”), a history of survival in Russia during World War II, takes place in the central plaza of San Antonio Tlayacapan, Saturday, February 13, 5 p.m.
Legion reopens
American Legion Post 7 in Chapala has reopened its facility. Enjoy the regular menu available from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays. The weekday evening appetizer menu, and weekend menus will also resume as normal and the full service bar is open.
Legion officers report that employees have been cleared to return to work following negative test results for Covid-19. All Covid protocols are to be followed, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. The maximum seating capacity is 50 percent as per the statewide restrictions.
LCS classes
• A hands-on workshop on cocoa and Mexican table chocolate, conducted by local expert Nora Maldonado, is scheduled for Friday, February 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Explorations in Mexican Ceramics, conducted by Xun Pedro Lopez, is on Saturdays, March 20 and 27, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mudlarks Pottery Studios. Over two days, you will see examples of Xun’s work, hear about techniques learned from his mother and grandmother, watch him demonstrate the making of one or two works, and then have a chance to create your own simple interpretations under his hands-on tutelage. No previous pottery or artistic experience is necessary.

Bird walks
Reduced-size bird walks with the Lake Chapala Birders must now be reserved by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) ahead of time. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be required. There will be no group breakfast at the end of the walk. Maximum attendance will be ten people. Reserve a space by email at least 48 hours ahead of each bird walk.
Monday, February 8, the group meets at 8:15 a.m. at El Bajio, on the west side of Ajijic. The birders will walk down the lane to the lake, expecting to see a good variety of birds in the tall trees and fields. From Ajijic go about two miles west from the light at Colon, turn downhill at the sign for El Bajio. Park immediately on the lateral. Note: if you reach a bus stop in front of a vivero with signs for H. La Cristina, you have gone a block too far.
Wednesday, February 17, the group meets 8:15 a.m. at the entrance to Cristiania Park in Chapala and will bird for about two hours. You should see an interesting selection of species in the park trees and on the shore of the lake. How to get there: From Ajijic go to the traffic light at the main street of Chapala (Av. Madero), cross straight over and keep going straight for five blocks, turn left at the T intersection and park on the right.
