Bird watching workshop

Because of the great success of a workshop held in early April, another bird watching get-together is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 2, 8 a.m.

pg12dRegina Loza will detail the amazing number of birds that live around the lakeshore, their functions and importance for Lake Chapala.

The fun starts at Independencia 133 in San Antonio Tlayacapan, and from there the group will move to the boardwalk. This is a practical and theoretical workshop. You do not need to have prior knowledge. Bring binoculars  if you have some. Everyone is welcome, but children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited registration at 333-481-7014. ANAVETS military ball

The Canadian Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Association (ANAVETS) Unit 19, will hold a Military Ball, Thursday, May 13, at Mama’s Musical Bar, Calle Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. Cocktails begin 4:30 p.m.; ceremonies, 5:30 p.m.; dinner, 6 p.m. The Crooners will provide dance music for the event, which includes a five-course meal. Dress is formal, uniform or business. The meal is by Eles catering and the menu includes French onion soup, spinach and blackberry salad, choice of chicken, beef, fish or vegetarian main plate, mixed berry cheesecake or caramel mousse brownies and petit fours.
