Open Circle

Michael McLaughlin presents “Reefer Madness” at the next meeting of Open Circle, Sunday, July 25, 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.

Cannabis legalization has exploded in the United States, Canada and around the world. More and more U.S. states are legalizing its medical and recreational use. Soon Mexico will become the world’s largest free cannabis market by population. What does this mean for Mexico and the world industry? McLaughlin will present a fast -paced overview of the plant, the U.S. and Canadian industry and possible scenarios for legal marijuana in Mexico.

Medicare Advantage

Lakeside Medical Group is hosting three seminars on “Using Medicare Advantage (Part C) in Mexico.”  Jeff Goble, an insurance agent specializing in Medicare, will speak Friday, July 24 at Sunrise Restaurant in Riberas del Pilar, and Sunday, July 26, at Mama’s Bar in San Antonio Tlayacapan, at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Saturday, July 25, Goble will speak at American Legion Post 7 Chapala at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Bring your questions and find out how you can use Medicare in Mexico.

Teddy Bear picnic

ANAVETS (Canadian Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans) Mexico Unit 19 hosts the second annual Teddy Bear “Picnic” Thursday, August 5, 2 p.m. at Mamas Musical Bar, Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. This event is in support of Los Gueros Motorcycle Club’s annual Christmas Toy Ride.

Bring a toy valued at 150 pesos and receive a free drink. The picnic menu is pulled pork, with a vegetarian option available. Games, raffles/draw and music by Jonathan Guzman, beginning 2:30 p.m., are included.
