Chapala Birders

Thursday, August 12, 8:15 a.m., the Lake Chapala Birders meet at the sculpture at the only traffic light in La Floresta,  leaving immediately for the Rosa Amarilla Loop. Expect to see a variety of grassland birds. Bring refreshments for the morning and sandwiches for the 12:30 p.m. lunch stop. Mexican money

Jorge Luis Silva Contreras offers a short course in Mexican banknotes and coins, counterfeit and more, Monday, August 16, noon to 1 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society’s Ken Gosh Pavilion. LCS members only. Sign up at the office or the LCS website.

American Legion

Due to new Jalisco Covid restrictions, American Legion Post 7 Chapala has decided to postpone their Tex-Mex Fiesta, scheduled for August 12, until October. Tickets will still be honored, or if you need a refund ask the bartender on duty. Look here for updates on the September 7 Labor Day event, the September 15 Mexican Independence Day meal and the September 11 Patriots Day remembrance. A POW/MIA recognition and service will be held September 17 and a celebration of the Air Force birthday will be held September 18.

Veggie Fest

A Veggie Fest is on at the Salon de Eventos La Huerta (where the Tuesday Farmers Market is held) Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
