Wine Fest
Chapala Wine Fest — VidForum 2026 runs this weekend, February 21 and 22, at the Chapala Yacht Club, Ramon Corona 1.
Twenty national and international vintners will offer tastings of more than 100 labels, while four local restaurants will serve up culinary specialties.
Gourmet purveyors of bread, cheese, charcuterie and pastry will be selling their wares, and local musicians will keep the harmony rolling.

Tickets cost 850 pesos on Saturday (open 1:30 to 10 p.m.) and 650 pesos on Sunday (open 1:30 to 8 p.m.).
Reina de Carnaval

Luz Elena López Hernández, 18, was named the winner of the 2026 Reina de Carnaval pageant held on February 13. She already holds the title as Queen of the 2025 Ajijic Fiestas Patrias. She will also go down in history as the first Ajijic native to wear the crown as the Chapala Mardi Gras Monarch
Open Circle
Barbara Hildt presents “Lessons in Peace: Insights from a Lifetime of Activism and Youth Empowerment” at Open Circle at the Lake Chapala Society on Sunday, February 22, 10:15 a.m.
Hildt will share the most helpful lessons she learned as a peace activist since 1959. Her focus will be on HIPP, Help Increase Peace Program, activities and experiences of youth participants after learning to practice skills that promote peace in themselves, in their relationships and in their world.

Chapala Birders
A birding outing along the Allen Lloyd Trail will be held on Sunday, March 1. Meet up with team leaders at 8 a.m. at the trailhead. Expect to see blue mockingbird, happy wren, and maybe a russet-crowned motmot or squirrel cuckoo.
To get to the trail head, drive up the Libramiento a half-mile (1 km) from the traffic light at Walmart, then turn left (carefully) as you would for the hospital (Ribera Medical Center). Double back and drive up the left side of the hospital. Keep going uphill another half mile, and park on the only street to your left.
ANAVETS
Anavets Mexico Unit 19 will host a Garden Party to benefit Mi Bebe Y Yo on Tuesday, March 3, 3 p.m. at the home of Julie Hensley, Calle las Redes 180 in Chapala (1&1/2 blocks behind CFE).
The event will have wine, cheese and a silent auction. Wear your best fascinator or hat.
Tickets, 350 pesos, can be purchased at Mama’s Musical Bar in San Antonio on Thursdays, noon to 2:30 p.m.
Since 2008, Mi Bebe Y Yo program has provided vital support to expectant mothers in their final trimester through generous baby packages, including knitted outfits and donated items.
Children’s home fundraiser
Blue Rose bistro and La Feria Restaurant are hosting the Red Party, their yearly fundraiser for Love in Action Children’s Home, on Tuesday, March 10, 4 p.m. Wear red and enjoy musical interludes by violinist David Friedlander and music and song from Yvonne and Scott of the Old Souls Band. A glass of bubbly is offered on arrival, before a fun silent auction and a live auction, and a wine pull. Dinner is catered by Blue Rose on the beautiful grounds of Villa Charlotte, Privada Libertad 26. Support a local orphanage and help bring hope to abandoned and abused girls.
