Barra de Navidad & Melaque Journal - January

Autographed guitar

Here’s an opportunity to win a Carlos Santana autographed guitar by supporting Tiopa Tlanextli (Sanctuary of Light), a community and health center in Autlan.

Since September 2006, Tiopa Tlanextli has been providing medical/dental care, education, telemedicine and community support at no charge to the residents of Autlán and its surrounding area.  Its mission is to provide its services with love, courtesy, humility and quality to the most vulnerable people in the community, including children, the elderly and the indigenous.

The center’s main benefactor is famed musician Carlos Santana, who was born in Autlan before moving to Tijuana and then California at the age of eight.

Various prizes – in addition to the guitar – are being raffled off to raise funds for this important labor.

The first prize of a PRS SE Santana Lion Model IV guitar, autographed by Santana himself, includes a cover and stand. Second prize consists of two VIP tickets to a Santana concert in 2018 (date and venue to be announced).  Third and fourth prizes are Palmer guitars donated by Hermes Music (not autographed) and fifth prize is a package of an autographed telemedicine shirt, CD and sticker.

Tickets can be purchased in Barra de Navidad from Froylan Velezquaz, of Sr. Froy’s Casa Mia, at Calle Filipinas 66, from now until the end of January. They cost 100 pesos each. The draw will be held on February 11

Tickets can also be purchased at www.TiopaTlanextli.org/boletos. Only 5,000 will be made available. Prizes will be delivered to the winners at their place of residence.

A concert, coordinated by Dr. Martín Sandoval Gómez, director of Tiopa Tlanextli, is scheduled for Sunday, January 21 on the Barra de Navidad Malecón featuring a Santana tribute band. Further details will be available at Sr. Froy’s.
