The beaches of Banderas Bay are a great place to see and be seen and now there is a wonderful way to spice up your appearance.
Think about attending the Beachfront Fashion Show at El Dorado Restaurant on Playa de Los Muertos Saturday, November 26, 1 p.m. A light lunch will be served at this event, which benefits Corazón de Niña, a local children’s shelter.
Models will show off the latest beach, resort and jewelry fashions from some of Puerto Vallarta’s favorite boutiques, including La Sirena Reina, Carol’s Boutique, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry and Pearl Jewelry by Dare and Maracuya. This is a great way to update your look while supporting a worthy cause.
The suggested donation is 400 pesos, with 50 percent of the proceeds going directly to Corazón de Niña. This shelter provides housing, education, food, medical care and love to young girls and boys who have suffered abandonment, negligence and physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

Walking tour
Learn all about the many gorgeous artworks gracing Puerto Vallarta’s boardwalk during the free weekly Malecón Sculpture Walking Tours.
This is the 11th year of this popular tour created and conducted by Galería Pacifico owner Gary Thompson.
The walks are held Tuesday mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Millennium sculpture, next to the Hotel Rosita at the north end of the Malecón in downtown Vallarta.
Sculptor Fernando Baños (also known as Mathis Lidice) usually starts off the tour by explaining the history and details of this towering figure.
Thompson then leads the tour along the Malecón, stopping at about 15 works to provide information on each piece and the artist. His knowledge and friendships with many of the sculptors, as well as other Vallarta artists, make the walk both entertaining and educational.
The walk takes about two hours and ends at Galería Pacifico on Calle Aldama, where Jim Demetro is usually available to discuss his sculptures – Dancers of Vallarta, Woman Washing Clothes and Andale Bernardo. He is always happy to explain the complex wax process he still uses to create his bronze sculptures.

Howling good time
Best friends can share a wonderful early afternoon at the 11th Annual Pet Picnic. The patio overlooking Banderas Bay at Daiquiri Dick’s Restaurant always plays host to this event. Join the fun on Saturday, December 3, from 11 a.m. Money raised goes to PEACE Animals.
There will be a costume contest, raffle and other surprises. The event will wrap up by 1:30 p.m. or a bit earlier. The costume contest starts at noon, so be prompt. Tickets are 350 pesos in advance and 400 pesos at the door. They can be purchased at the restaurant, which is located on Los Muertos Beach at Olas Altas 314, on the south side of Puerto Vallarta.
The price includes a boxed lunch with choice of sandwich, a doggie bag for your buddy and tip, but beverages are not included.
This event has grown over the years, so get tickets early. It’s worth attending even if you do not have a dog. It’s a great way to meet other animal lovers.
PEACE Animals conducts high-volume, mobile, spay and neuter clinics for companion animals in Jalisco and Nayarit. This free program reaches out to pet owners who cannot afford to go to the vet. The clinics are typically set up in neighborhood homes, businesses or government buildings. They run for three and a half days and the vets usually sterilize more than 140 animals in this time frame.
PEACE Animals operates on some 4,000 animals per year.
