Democrats Abroad Costa Banderas will hold their annual meeting on Monday, March 20, from 5-7 p.m. on the upstairs terrace at No Way José! Restaurant in Old Town Puerto Vallarta, 5 de Febrero 260. 

The agenda for the event will include a report on recent activity, establishing priorities for the upcoming year, election of officers for the next two-year term and a fun and challenging trivia contest, in which tables will compete against each other for prizes.

The annual meeting will cost members 100 pesos for one drink and appetizers. The chapter will subsidize another 100 pesos per person.

Outgoing Chair Tobe Jensen will share this year’s results and facilitate a discussion of upcoming priorities. The nominating committee, chaired by John Wilson-Bugbee and including Ken Cado and Raachel Steele, will put forward a slate of board members for the 2017-2019 term. Nominations can also be received from the floor during the meeting.

New Venue

Incanto Theater recently opened its doors and the hits keep coming. It is located on Insurgentes 109 on the Rio Cuale. Here are some of the upcoming shows:

Vocalist and songwriter Eric Krop has made a name for himself as one of the most preeminent young singers on the pop and musical theater scene, performing in “Godspell” on Broadway and headlining at several top NYC and LA venues. Eric is now appearing at Incanto with musical director and celebrated accompanist Nate Buccieri through Saturday, March 25. 

Stolie presents a new musical comedy show, Chica, Go!, with two of her gal pals, Tiffani Swalley and Cat McDonnell. These three Chicago-based performers team up for a hilarious show combining music with improvisational and sketch comedy. Chica Go! plays Sunday, March 19, 7 p.m. 

Singer-songwriter Stolie gathers a group for Cantautoras – songwriters-in-the-round – on Tuesday, March 21, 8 p.m. Each songwriter will present a song, and you’ll hear stories about the writers and their music. They’ll also accompany each other on back-up harmonies and percussion. Guest artists include Ive Guadarrama from Toluca, Mexico, Nie Curbelo from Havana, Cuba, and Sarah En La Luna from Vallarta. One performance only. Also see Stoile on Mondays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the piano bar in her own show.

Pianist Jean-Guy Comeau (Jay-Gee) and singer/guitarist Gabriel Reyes appear in the piano bar on select dates. New York’s Michael McAssey presents catchy cabaret tunes Tuesday to Saturday at 8 and 10 p.m. BINGO with Pearl will be held on March 18 and 25. And Incanto is now serving breakfast on their beautiful riverside terrace Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended.

Half Marathon

SEAPAL, Vallarta’s water utility, is the sponsor of the Seventh Half Marathon and XVII Recreational Run on Sunday, March 26, starting at 7am. Distances covered are five kilometers and 21 kilometers. 

Everyone is welcome to register online at MedioMaraton.seapal.gob.mx The fee is 200 pesos.
