Pasitos de Luz

A charity luncheon to raise funds for Pasitos de Luz will be held at The River Café (Isla Rio Cuale 4), Saturday, February 3, 1 p.m. The event is hosted by Alexander A Salon, who will be showcasing their new hair styles, along with fashions from Vogue Boutique.

Pasitos de Luz is a non-profit organization founded by the mothers of disabled children that serves the needs of children with disabilities and their low-income families. These children often suffer from acute physical and psychological illnesses and many are unable to enter the mainstream education system. By providing a safe place for these children during the day, both parents are able to go out to work. This extra income is essential for many families who live on the breadline.

Tickets for the luncheon are 350 pesos and can be purchased from Alexander A Salon in Plaza Marina. Or call (322) 103-7938 for delivery details.  Also seepasitosdeluz.org for more information about the charity.

Briefly

Puerto Vallarta kicked off 2018 with a modest increase in its hotel occupancy rate compared with the previous year.  Occupancy for the first two weeks of the year was 95 percent – up four percent.

Vialidad Municipal (the local traffic department) has instigated its own version of the breathalyzer operations (Salvando Vidas) introduced in Guadalajara over the past few years. On the weekend of January 13-14, 140 drivers were tested, with 19 ticketed for being over the regulated limit of alcohol intake.  The difference with the Guadalajara program is that drivers are not taken off to the “drunk tank.” The checks will be ongoing, municipal authorities say.
