Riverfest
The seventh annual Riverfest takes place Friday March 2 through Sunday, March 4.
This three-day benefit for Pasitos de Luz features daily exhibits, food, silent auctions, raffles and live performances.
Saturday’s performers are Paul Fracas, Stolie, The Jamaican Brothers, Soul Trip, Cat Daddy, The Zippers and La Trez Cuartos. On Sunday, Media Luna, Mariachi Real America and Los Bambinos will be on the bill.
Riverfest runs from noon to 7 p.m. each day at El Rio BBQ Bar (Felipe Ángeles 245, Paso Ancho).
Pasitos de Luz is a Puerto Vallarta non-profit organization founded by mothers of disabled children to achieve their rehabilitation and basic needs.
Champagne Brunch
2018 is the Year of the Dog and to mark the occasion, the Vallarta chapter of the SPCA is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday, March 7 at Casa Kimberly, starting 11 a.m.

SPCA (Protective and Compassionate Society for the Animals) is dedicated to the rescue of street dogs. Its mission is to help fund and promote sterilization, adoption and healthcare efforts for companion animals in the Puerto Vallarta area.
Blind wine tasting
Wine enthusiasts might wish to take part in a blind wine tasting game organized by Uncork Mexico, Thursday, March 8, 6 p.m. The tasting follows a simple concept: participants will try to guess the grape, the country, and the price range of five mono-varietal wines from different countries. The 500-peso ticket price includes the tasting of five wines plus an antipasto. The event takes place at Petit Hotel Villa Mercedes, Amapas 175.
Uncork Mexico is an online wine shop offering boutique wines and delivery service in the Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerias areas.
Concerts
The Puerto Vallarta International Chorus presents “Feel the Love” at the Boutique Dinner Theatre on Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12.
An optional dinner is available at Nacho Daddy’s from 5 p.m. The show begins at 6 p.m. The theater is located above Nacho Daddy’s, (Basilio Badillo 287, Col. Emiliano Zapata, tel. 322-688-5566) where tickets for either performance can be purchased.
Proceeds from the show benefit the theater and Puerto Vallarta youth music programs.
Garden Party
A Garden Party/Silent Auction to raise funds for the Corazon de Niña Foundation takes place at Hacienda de Carlotta (Lazaro Cardenas 388) Sunday, March 11, 2-4 p.m.
Organizers promised delicious tapas, with music courtesy of Piel Canela.
Tickets, 500 pesos, are available at Casandra Shaw Jewelry, Basillo Badillo 276 and the Corazon de Niña Thrift Store, at Bay 8 in the Marina.

Fundación Corazón de Niña is a registered not-for-profit organization that provides a nurturing family environment for at-risk girls and boys of all ages. The shelter is typically home to between 38 and 44 children and youth aged from four months to 23 years of age. About two-thirds of the children are girls. The charity funds two homes in Puerto Vallarta — one for the girls and one next door for the boys.
Arabian Night
An “Arabian Night” benefit for the PuRR Project is scheduled at Daiquiri Dick’s Tuesday, March 13, 5:30 p.m.
The themed evening features hors d’oeuvres, two cocktails and appetizers. Belly dancers will perform, while guests may learn what life has in store for them with tarot card readings.
Prizes in the raffle include artworks, a hotel stay, jewelry and wine.

The PuRR shelter in Puerto Vallarta cares for homeless cats and kittens with the aim of eventually adopting them to loving homes. Funds raised for the charity help provide the felines with veterinary care, spaying and neutering, food, kitty litter, and maintenance of the facility. For more information, see PuRRProject.com.
Exhibit
Roberto’s Mexican Seafood at Basilio Badillo 238 is showing works by two well-known local artists: Ada Colorina and Veronica Rangel.
A Puerto Vallarta native, Colorina’s whimsical, colorful works of local scenes have garnered plenty of international acclaim. Her studio outside of town is always open and she welcomes visitors warmly. Primarily a watercolorist, although she handles other mediums with skill, Rangel – also born in Vallarta – is considered one of the town’s most talented artistic lights.
Mexico’s smallest beach
According to mexicodesconocido.com, Playa Colomitos is “considered the smallest beach in Mexico” and “a paradise for lovers of eco-tourism.” This hidden-away jewel just 11 miles from downtown Vallarta is usually reached by water taxi, although it can be accessed from Boca de Tomatlan via a 40-minute hike through tropical forest.
