Chapala tennis academy to host national tournament

Junior tennis players will be bouncing in from all corners of Mexico to compete in a national tournament June 15 through 19 at Chapala’s Cristiania Park. 

Organized under the auspices of the Jalisco Tennis Association, the event will be hosted by Chapala’s Academia de Tenis, headquartered at the local park. 

Competition will be open to male and female players aged 10 to 21 who are affiliated with the National Tennis Federation. They will be divided into six age divisions for singles and doubles games, scheduled daily between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Spectators are welcome to attend and watch the young athletes vie for trophies and the accumulation of points to advance in the national amateur rankings. 

At least a half dozen of the academy’s most promising trainees will be entering the tournament.  Their pro coach Victor Esparza expressed high expectations his star pupils will excel on the courts and put Chapala in the sport’s limelight.
