Charros back in action October 12 in expanded Pacific Baseball League

The Charros de Jalisco, reigning champions of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), begin the quest to defend their crown on Saturday, October 12, with a home opener against the Yaquis de Obregon.

The Charros will play 68 games during the 13-week regular season, which ends December 30.

The LMP this year has been expanded from eight to ten teams, with the return to the league of the Algodoneros de Guasave, and the addition of the Sultanes de Monterrey, one of Mexico’s oldest and most recognized teams, which habitually plays in the summer Mexican Baseball League (MLB).

The league season is divided into two halves (primera and segunda vueltas). At the end of each vuelta, teams are awarded points determined by their positions in the standings. The final positions are calculated by adding up the points earned in both vueltas. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs.

The Charros de Jalisco play their home games at the Charros Stadium, located in Zapopan near the Auditorio Telmex and the northern periferico (beltway). Weekday home games are scheduled at 7 p.m., Saturday games at 5 p.m. and Sunday games at 3 p.m. A full schedule of the home games will be published in next week’s edition of the Reporter.

Season tickets ranging in price from 4,080 (top tier main stand) pesos to 24,480 (VIP) are already on sale.
