Mariachis begin three home series

Local baseball fans have several opportunities to see the Mariachis de Guadalajara in action in the coming fortnight, with three consecutive home series on the team’s schedule.

First up at the Estadio Panamericano in Zapopan is the June 6-8 (Tuesday to Thursday) series against the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. All the games start at 7:30 p.m.

For those who prefer weekend games, the Mariachis take on the Olmecas de Tabasco Friday June 9, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 10, 5 p.m.; and Sunday, June 11, 3 p.m.

After a day off on Monday, the team is back at the Panamericano Stadium for three games against the Generals de Durango June 13-15 (Tuesday to Thursday), all at 7:30 p.m.

Following a break for the MLB All-Star Game weekend June 16-18 in Villahermosa, Tabasco, the Mariachis go on the road, returning to Guadalajara for a three-game series against the Algodoneros de Union Laguna Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2.

The Mariachis lie in 8th place in the nine-team northern division of the LMB, with a 14-20 win-loss record, seven games back of leaders Dos Laredos.

Despite their poor start to the season, there is still time—two months—for the Mariachis to turn around their form.  The regular season runs until August 6, with the playoffs beginning on August 8.
