The Charros buy out the Mariachis and will play in both of Mexico’s professional leagues

The Charros de Jalisco will be playing in Mexico’s top two leagues next after the baseball club’s directors this week announced the purchase of the Mariachis de Guadalajara franchise.

The sale means that the Charros will automatically take the Mariachis’ place in the summer Mexican Baseball League (LMB), which runs from April to August. The Charros currently play in the country’s other professional baseball league, the fall/winter Liga Mexicana del Pacific (LMP).

This means Guadalajara baseball fans will be able to see their beloved team in action for at least seven months of the year, and a maximum of nine months should the Charros advance into the playoffs in both competitions.

The Charros will join the Sultanes de Monterrey as the only teams in Mexico playing in both leagues.
