$US600 million coming Jalisco's way

Direct investment will soon be pouring into Jalisco at the rate of knots, Governor Aristoteles Sandoval confirmed following the 13th Mexico Business Summit held this week at Expo Guadalajara.

At least eight large Mexican and international companies have announced plans for start-up operations in the state, he said.  The projects will benefit the state to the tune of $US607 million, creating 4,000 direct and 7,000 indirect jobs, Sandoval said.

The companies that have committed to Jalisco are Grupo Dragón, SERAP, Sirane Central Americana, IMI, Plexus, Aerolíneas Rocriva, Offshore México and Enel Green Power (see separate story this page).

In addition, China Communications Construction Company Limited has signed an agreement to build an industrial park, to be known as “Capital de las Ciencias,” to house Chinese and Mexican high-tech firms.
