New airline hoping to take off

According to its website, Aerojal will launch shortly in response to a “market need for an authentic regional carrier service.”

Aerojal says it plans to “offer flights between cities that other airlines cannot provide.”

State Economic Promotion Secretary Jaime Martinez Flores said the airline would have a fleet of 15 to 20 aircraft.  He said he could not provide more details due to the “confidentiality” of the project.

However, the website confers that Aerojal has selected the 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 plane for the “security, comfort, high performance, great reliability and operational economy it provides.”

The airline will presumably look to pick up routes left vacant when Alma, another locally-based discount carrier, folded in 2009.

The government concession and air operator’s certificate are currently under review the website states.
