Mercury set to rise to 38C by end of May, experts say

The maximum temperature in Guadalajara will rise to 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit) by the end of May, said AMI specialist Ruben Aguirre Salas. The minimum temperature will also increase from around ten degrees to over 20 degrees Celsius.

Although spring has only just begun, Aguirre Salas noted that in some areas of northern Jalisco, such as the municipality of Bolaños, the maximum temperature is already close to 40 degrees.

The AMI also revealed that Guadalajara recently registered a high UV index of seven points. In such conditions a fair-skinned person is recommended to spend no more than 25 minutes in direct sunlight, while those with darker skin should not spend more than 35 minutes in the sun’s rays.
