New airline expects to be airborne by September

Although the airline is still awaiting its official certification, investors are ready to pump 30 million dollars into the project.

At first, the airline will operate out of Terminal One of the Guadalajara International Airport, but later move into the second terminal.  The business will start with two Embraer 45 planes, with 40 to 50 seats each, and add one more plane per month.

The first route will be Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta.  Additional routes will include Puebla, Monterrey and Aguascalientes.

Currently, 18 people are employed by Aerojal, but this number will eventually rise to 70.

Company directors say Aerojal – the name may change prior to the start of operations – will not be a “low cost” airline but should be seen as a “regional” option.
The airline will pick up some of the routes left vacant by Alma, a discount carrier that folded in 2009.
