Kumamoto leads activism conference

Independent Jalisco congressman Pedro Kumamoto and political organization Wikipolitica Jalisco are behind “La Ocupacion,” a four-day conference/incubator (Wednesday, August 30 to Saturday, September 2)

bringing together 40-odd entities from various walks of life for a blizzard of workshops, round tables and assorted tete-a-tetes at La Fabrica in Colonia Americana.

According to their press release, La Ocupacion’s aim is to bring together people and initiatives that are making changes in the political life of Mexico.  Some notable participants are Kumamoto himself, journalist Denise Dresser and noted left-wing politician Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, son of Former Mexican President Lazaro Cardenas.  La Fabrica (formerly La Fabrica de Chocolate) is at Privada Andres Teran 33, Colonia Americas, Guadalajara.  The conference is free, but space is limited.  To register and for more information, go to laocupacion.org.
