Bull fighting season gets underway

Guadalajara’s premiere bull-fighting season gets underway this month, with senior matadors taking center stage at the Nuevo Progreso Plaza de Toros.

Corridos will be played out on consecutive Sundays from October 22 to November 12 at 4.30 p.m.

Tickets cost 100 to 250 pesos. The Plaza de Toros is located at Pirineos 1930, just off the Calzada Independencia in Colonia Monumental, across from the Estadio Jalisco.  For more information, see plazanuevoprogreso.com.mx or call (33) 3651-8378.

Bull-fighting is abhorred by many people (not just animal activists) and the activity’s days may be numbered in some parts of the world, but it should be stressed that it remains an entrenched and well-supported cultural tradition in western Mexico.
