Seasonal bazaars spring up on weekend before Christmas

A series of independent seasonal bazaars in Guadalajara scheduled this weekend provide opportunities for local micro entrepreneurs to showcase their wares. 

Expect to find diverse gift options, as well as an interesting variety of food and entertainment choices at these listed events.  For more information on all of them, see Facebook.

If you’re looking for something a little different, perhaps more creative, for a seasonal gift, then head over to the Parque Agua Azul (Calzada Independencia and Campesino) this weekend for the Pitaya Bazaar, where dozens of vendors, craftspeople and artists will be selling their merchandize. There will be also be entertainment for kids and adults, (face painting, music, etc.). The added bonus is that all the items on sale are “100-percent Mexican,” organizers insist. The park is always worth a visit, too!

Open Friday, December 15 through Sunday, December 17, noon to 6 p.m.  Free entry.

Mexican designers show off their clothes, accessories, furniture, toys, shoes and more at the 24th edition of the Manos Mexicanas Bazaar on Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17, noon to 8 p.m.  The event takes place at  the Punto Lavoro (Lerdo de Tejada 214, corner of General San Martín) in Colonia Lafayette, from noon to 8 p.m.

At 6 p.m. on both days, enjoy a delicious ponche Mexicano (fruit punch) while listening to the Gypsy Velvet Duo. The AMAR animal group will be offering pets for adoption. The sale is pet friendly: you can bring your dog.

The Christmas Pink Sale on Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17 features 80 exhibitors offering a variety of gift options. You can also take in an art gallery zone, and the “Enchanted Garden.”

The food area will boast an impressive selection, including lasagna from Casa Lassagna, lonches bañados from Gaby’s Catering, and baguettes, tapas and craft beers from Caprinos Pizza Deli. There’s parking, too.

A Christmas market will be set up in the open-air area of the plush Plaza Andares (Av. Patria and Acueducto) in Zapopan, Saturday and Sunday, December 16 and 17, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The mall has dozens of upmarket stores, as well as some excellent restaurants.

The Village Market, held in the Explanada Leac (Av. Patria 1501, to one side of the Andares mall), will run from Friday, December 15 through Saturday, December 23, from noon to 10 p.m. each day.

As well as gift items for sale, there will be a gastronomic area, a small ice skating rink, and games and workshops for kids.

Free entry and parking is available.
