New low-cost flight to Los Angeles

Discount Mexican airline Viva Aerobus launched daily direct flights between Guadalajara and Los Angeles, California, December 16.

pg2aFlights leave Guadalajara at 3:55 p.m., arriving in Los Angeles at 5:15 p.m. The return flight leaves at 6:30 p.m., arriving at 11:30 p.m.

Owned by  IAMSA, the biggest bus company group in Mexico, Viva Aerobus is often considered the airline with the lowest rates in the country. It was co-started by the Ryan family, the founders of Irish airline Ryanair, one of the largest low-cost carriers in Europe.

An online GDL-LAX search on Viva Aerobus’ website this week registered a mixed bag of costs, with return ticket prices around 10,578 pesos ($US546) for the first week of January and some dates for the second week going for 5,128 pesos ($US265).

Viva Aerobus started operations in 2006 and operates 23 Airbus A320s on 88 routes to 37 destinations.
