For those who love plants but hate maintenance, Festicactus Guadalajara, running this Friday-Sunday, should be of more than casual interest.
The three-day festival takes place in the Museum of Paleontology, located in the verdant, serene environs of Parque Agua Azul, a 10-minute bus ride south from the city’s cathedral. Among the event’s offerings are workshops, conferences and, of course, opportunities to buy a dizzying variety of spiny succulents.
Entrance to the festival is free, and hours are Friday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Go to the event’s Facebook page (click on Gran feria de cactaceas y suculentas de Guadalajara) for more information.
