Violence, most likely cartel-related, continues to convulse Guadalajara.
Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 in the central-east Belisario Dominguez colonia of Guadalajara, a group of armed men violently interrupted a wake at a funeral home, killing two people and injuring ten before speeding away in two trucks.
According to conflicting witness reports, the wake was either for a victim of a different shooting, which took place Sunday in Colonia Heliodoro Hernandez Loza, or for a woman named Jazmin, whose cause of death isn’t known.
Sunday’s incident saw members of the state police force do battle with cartel members, who attacked the law enforcement detail shorty after it arrived following reports of gun shots. Police eventually found and killed three of the shooters following a rooftop pursuit.
