DIALING CHANGES – As of August 3, 2019, dialing a cell phone from a fixed line will get slightly easier with the elimination of the 044 and 045 prefixes.

Callers will only need to dial the ten numbers of the cell phone. In addition, the 01 prefix for long-distance calls will no longer be required.

SURGE IN CANADIANS – More Canadians took out temporary residency status in the state of Jalisco during 2017, compared with U.S. citizens, released data seems to suggest.  According to a report produced by the Instituto Jalisciense para los Migrantes (Ijami), 1,269 Canadians Tarjetas de Residencia Temporal (TRT) were granted in 2017, more than one-quarter of the total issued to foreign citizens, 4,983.

FREE PLANETARIUM – Patrons of Guadalajara’s new planetarium are still entering free of charge, more than a month after the attraction opened to the public.  The Culture Department has said it will set an entry fee sometime after January 15.
