Christine Walker, who was the “story lady” at Sandi Bookstore before it closed last year, will reopen her popular story and song time in English for young children at the American Society (Amsoc) on the last Saturday of each month.
Walker will be there on Saturday, January 26, from 11 a.m. and then again on Saturday, February 23 and Saturday, March 23. It’s free and you get a chance to relax with your children or grandchildren in the atmosphere of a real library.
Amsoc is also in the process of building a children’s library with book donations. They soon hope to have 100 books through purchases and donations.
To be able to withdraw books or videos from both children’s and adult libraries, Amsoc is offering a specially reduced rate of 300 pesos for an adult member of the family. For more information about this new activity, come to Saturday’s event, or contact Eliza Osher at 331-116-7248. or Christine Walker at This email address is being protected from spambots. Readers needed
Do you have a nice clear voice? Various schools in Guadalajara have asked Amsoc if they might supply volunteers who would like to read to students in an English class. The reading sessions would last about an hour.
For those who like to read aloud, and enjoy time with youngsters learning English, now is the chance to make a difference.
