The somewhat unkempt Ixtepete pyramids on the outskirts of Guadalajara are deserted most of the year but leapt into a flurry of activity as “new agers” descended to recharge their batteries with solar energy on the spring equinox, Thursday, March 21.
Many of the revelers dressed in white and spent much of the day meditating and performing rituals. The spring equinox is one of just two days in the year when the sun rises exactly in the east, travels through the sky for 12 hours and sets exactly in the west.
