The Guadalajara municipal police force is boasting a smart new look following the delivery of 176 new vehicles, quads and bikes this week.
At a ceremony presided over by Mayor Ismael del Toro in the Plaza Juárez, officers received the keys to 90 new pickups, 60 4x4s, 30 4x2s, 20 Chargers, 25 quad bikes and 41 bicycles.
The new additions will enable the force to “increase its presence” throughout the municipality’s 470 colonias (neighborhoods), del Toro promised. Prior to the delivery, only 300 of the 900 vehicles owned by the force were operable. The cost of the new vehicles totaled 100,192,000 pesos ($US5.2 million), averaging around $US29,000 per unit.
