Hundreds of thousands of three-wheeler taxis transport passengers throughout cities in the vast nation of India efficiently and (relatively) safely, but authorities in Guadalajara consider them a danger.
The Jalisco Congress recently decided not to “regularize” mototaxis (as they are referred to here), even though they continue to be used, mostly in areas of Tlajomulco lacking regular bus service.
Jonadab Martínez García, president of the Mobility Commission in the Jalisco legislature, said other forms of transport – possibly minivans or “combis” – should be used to service communities that are not connected to metro Guadalajara’s bus network.
