The workshops, which ran from July 15 to 19, were held at the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas and Instituto Cultural Cabañas, with the support of the Jalisco Culture Department and the Universidad de Guadalajara.  Hernandez, a principal with the English National Ballet who is considered one of the finest ballet dancers on the planet, led several of the classes himself.

“The creative industries are the future of a modern and harmonious society,” Hernandez said at the event’s opening.

The dancer said he is keen to give back to his country by helping young people realize their dreams.

The event concludes with a performance by Hernandez and a host of international dance stars at the Auditorio Telmex on Saturday, July 20, 8:30 p.m.

Hernandez also attended Tuesday’s inauguration of a mural of Frida Kahlo created by Irish street artist Fin Dac in the Chapultepec area of the city. The mural was commissioned as part of the Despertares Impulsa program.
