Police are searching for leads after the mass poisoning of 80 birds in a park on Avenida Naciones Unidas in Zapopan.
According to Zapopan Civil Protection, the birds, covering six species, ingested tortillas that had been laced with a venomous chemical substance.
The concrete where the tortillas pieces were left has been cleaned and the park will be closed until authorities declare it toxin free. The nature of the venom used to kill the birds is unknown. The matter is being investigated by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa).
