The prelate stressed, however, that women who have abortions after being raped should not be “punished or victimized.”
“Sometimes the woman isn’t sufficiently protected,” Robles said, noting that the perpetrators of these crimes usually go unpunished.
Robles said more support should be offered to such women to help them through their suffering, while still respecting the life of an unborn child. He conceded that women often feel pressured into getting abortions after being raped because they lack support.
