The 911 emergency service in Guadalajara is being plagued by prank calls.
One fake call this week prompted two frantic dashes, amid heavy metro-area traffic, by firefighters and ambulance crews, to a falsely reported house collapse at José María Vigil and Terranova, near Plaza Mexico. The service has been criticized for its often slow response to emergency calls, especially outside the Guadalajara metropolitan area. The surfeit of prank calls is not likely to improve this situation.
