City’s amazing Book Fair

The massive International Book Fair (FIL) opens in Guadalajara Saturday, November 30 and runs until Sunday, December 8 at Expo Guadalajara (Avenida Mariano Otero at Avenida de las Rosas).

Doors open each day at 9 a.m., except for Monday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 4, when they open at 5 p.m. for the general public. The fair closes at 9 p.m. daily. Entry cost is 30 pesos. FIL is the world’s second-largest book fair and attracts hundreds of publishers from Spanish-speaking nations. Large numbers of English-language books will also be on sale.

India, this year’s invited country, is bringing more than 30 acclaimed authors to the fair, and will erect its pavilion near the entrance to the event. Nightly performances by Indian artists take place in the Expo Foro, starting around 9 p.m. Check the FIL web site, which includes a section in English, at www.fil.com.mx for a full schedule of events and book presentations.
