Eighteen drunk drivers were hauled off to the cells (their vehicles were also impounded) on Christmas Eve and the early hours of December 25.
The figure represented 0.27 percent of the 6,466 drivers breathalyzed during the course of the evening. The state Transportation Department (Semov) operated 12 units, which set up checkpoints at various points of the Guadalajara metropolitan area. Ten drivers received fines for being over a certain alcohol limit, but not enough to warrant arrest.
