Several traditional Easter celebrations marked by the Catholic Archdiocese of Guadalajara will not take place this year for safety reasons.
The annual visits to seven temples on Maundy Thursday, Palm Sunday rites, the Marcha del Silencio (March of Silence) and Via Crucis Passion Plays have all been cancelled, Cardinal Francisco Robles, the archbishop of Guadalajara, announced this week. Traditional Easter Masses will go ahead, but with reduced attendance inside churches, he said, adding that they will be transmitted on the archdiocese’ social media platforms.
