The Zapopan Department of Tourism is organizing a special gastronomic festival in the pleasant Andador 20 de Noviembre pedestrian walkway that connects the municipality’s famous arches with the huge Plaza de las Americas (or Juan Pablo II).
The Festival Gastronómico Zapopan Grill will feature the best of traditional Mexican cooking, and is scheduled Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28, from 1 p.m. on each day.
Many of the vendors will be grilling and selling traditional carne asada.
The festival will include music presentations, classic car exhibits, cooking contests, workshops, fun for children and more, organizers say.
Zapopan centro is a lively place to visit on a weekend, offering a good number of attractions, including the Basilica, a modern art museum, a Huichol museum, a small zoo and a good number of restaurants.
