New regulations for travelers entering the United States will come into effect in November, the Joe Biden administration has announced.
All adult foreigners traveling to the United States will need to show they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before boarding their flights. This requirement is in addition to the current rule that all passengers (including U.S. citizens) show airline staff proof of a negative Covid-19 test done within 72 hours of departure to the United States.
According to White House Covid-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients, non-vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents can fly to the United States, but will face “stricter testing and contact tracing protocols” on their arrival.
Once the new requirements come into effect, the U.S. government will lift some restrictions on non-essential international travel. After more than 20 months with its doors closed, the United States will reopen the country to visitors from the European Union, the United Kingdom and several other nations, including China, India, Brazil and Iran.
