Chapala traffic office relocates

Lakeside headquarters for the Jalisco Traffic Department (SVT) moved into new digs in downtown Chapala early this month, offering only limited services pending reconnection of its telephone line.

As of April 24, no signs indicating the change of address had been posted outside the new SVT branch office at Calle Flavio Romero 405-A (see photo right), nor on the gates of  previous location in Riberas del Pilar. The entrance to the new spot, situated near the corner of cross street Guerrero, can be recognized by a green metal gate and hand-painted tiles set above the doorway inscribed with the name Villa San Francisco.  Officials on duty this week told this newspaper that the issuance of driver permits has been temporarily suspended due to the lack of phone service. In the meantime, they stated, emergency calls may be directed to the municipality’s Civil Protection Unit (766-5252) or Police Department (765-4444).
