US expert talks at local symposium

Dr. Walter Rast, director of Texas State University’s International Institute for Watershed Studies, was in Ajijic last week to participate as a keynote speaker and expert adviser at a symposium on advancing integral management of the Lerma-Chapala watershed.

The June 28-29 gathering was targeted for academics and government officials involved in water and environment issues, to focus on achieving research, information sharing and cross-sector cooperation goals. It was jointly organized under the auspices of ILEC Foundation, Corazon de la Tierra, Refugia Ecobiodiversity Conservation Center, UNAM University, and the FIDERCO Regional Development Trust.
