Yolanda Martinez picks up Chamber of Commerce gavel

The lakeside branch of Guadalajara’s National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) is under new leadership following the June 28 swearing-in of Yolanda Martinez as its new head officer.

Canaco President Francisco Beckmann Gonzalez administered the oath office to the vivacious proprietress of Yoli’s Unisex Beauty Salon and members of her board during a breakfast ceremony held at Ajijic’s Hotel Real.

Prominent members of the local business community, several top city government officials and many of her loyal clients were on hand to salute Martinez.

During her remarks to the audience Martinez referred to recent events that have had a negative impact on the community’s commerce. Martinez called on fellow affiliates, authorities and consumers alike to form a common front to restore the area’s former ambience of peace and safety. She thanked Beckmann in particular for arranging a personal meeting with Jalisco Public Security Director Luis Carlos Najera, who gave assurances that rooting out violent crime in the lakeshore region is a top priority.
