Jocotopc rebuilds main artery

Motorists headed through downtown Jocotepec will find themselves detoured while the municipal government completes the last leg in renovating the city’s main arteries.

Through traffic is currently blocked along the full length Calle Miguel Arana, running east-west from the entrance of the town to the central plaza, while resurfacing of the badly pitted roadway is under way. The section stretched between Calle Nicolas Bravo and the divided boulevard feeding into the east of town is being covered with a new layer of asphalt. Hydraulic concrete will be laid down for the contiguous segment, ending at the plaza. The four-lane tarmac boulevard was completed in 2011. The main section of Calle Hidalgo, running north-south from the plaza perpendicular to Miguel Arana, was refinished in concrete in January of this year.
