Lakeside’s original community-based crime report website was reincarnated this week under new management at the revised URL www.lakechapalacrime.com. The site was revived following the sudden demise of Lakeside Crime Tracker, an alternate site developed after Lakeside Crime Watch folded last May.
Crime Tracker shut down Tuesday, September 11 in the wake of criticism that culminated with a series of hostile postings appearing on a popular web board early in the day.
The old site was restored within a matter of hours, with all its original content and user-friendly format intact. A few recent incident reports have since been added, but gaps from June to the present remain.An introductory message from the new webmasters reads: “We encourage you to report any crimes that happened in the last several months so that the information is available to the community. And if you or your friend becomes a victim of a crime, we encourage you to report it to the website as well as local authorities.”
